Well, Well, Well...what do we have here? My first Fatty Von Fattersons baking challenge of the year! That kinda rhymed, maybe I should take up free-styling instead, BOY-IEEEE!
Soooo I decided to do a cupcake test run before making them for my kids birthday party next month. It's more of an "Ice Cream Cone-Sike its really a Cupcake" post I found on Pinterest.
That did not rhyme. My dope Free-styling dreams are crushed.
Here is the Pinterest Pic
& here is what you'll need!
1. Your choice of cake mix
2. Ice Cream Cone Cups
3. Maraschino Cherries (Optional, Not on the Pinterest Post)
4. Will power to not eat cake batter or cherries
5. Your choice of Sprinkles
6. Your choice of Frosting: 2 (forgot to add it in the pic above)
7. Frosting Tube? Frosting...Squirter? Frosting Squirt Dispenser?
(Optional if you already have something similar to decorate your cupcakes with)
8. Cupcake Baking Tray
9. Electric Whisk/Mixer (If you're too lazy to make your own frosting)
10. Milk Shake: In case you get thirsty during the process
11. Milk Shake Repellant: To keep boys away from your yard.
Ok, GO!
Cake, Cake, Cake, Cake, Cake....
Mix your cake batter as instructed on the box you purchased & set aside.
Pre-heat your oven (your cake mix should have this info)
Take a cone & fill it with cake batter, about 2/3 full.
Place each cone per cupcake tray...hole? slot? spot? You know what I meant.
If your cupcakes seems unstable you can place aluminum foil around (not under) the cones to keep them from falling over.
Place in the middle rack of your oven & have your milk shake while you wait.
Milk Shake Repellant is optional.
Your cake batter box might say about 18-20 minutes...check your cone cakes & place a tooth pick in the middle to check if they're completely done, if not...back to the hot square & check every 5 minutes until they are ready.
Frosting!
Lazy mans frosting: Take your frosting & place it in a medium mixing
bowl, Take your electric mixer & mix on low for a couple of minutes
or until the frosting is soft & smooth.
It should look like home
made frosting.
If you have a frosting decorating tube dispenser squirt froster :D .....
Fill it with the frosting. I have the Wilton one in the picture shown above & it's pretty easy to use. I do have to refill it every 5-6 cupcakes which can slow down the process a little.
The tip I use is the star burst looking one with the light blue frosting example in the pic.
If you need to practice how to create the frosting swirl, you can try it on a cupcake & just scrape it off into the frosting bowl if you need to try again!
Ice Cream type Frosting method:
Place a dot of frosting in the middle of the cupcake.
Start at the outer edge of the cupcake & dispense slowly in a spiral following the outside of the cupcake until you have covered the middle completely.
Here's a YouTube video since my frosting instruction suck (not my video)
Once you've mastered & have finished frosting....wait, is it frosting? or icing?
Cupcake Decorating Fail= Linda.
Anyhow, once you've finished....add Sprinkles to your cupcakes. I decided I wanted to add a cherry on top. For this, I took the maraschino cherries & dried them with paper towels. If you add them when they're goo-ey, it'll just run down the frosting & it'll look more like a menstruating ice cream cone. & no body likes a menstruating ice cream cone. Unless you're a pervy vampire.
Top your fake ice cream cones with dry maraschino cherries & Voila!
Time to break the hearts of all the kids that thought they were about to eat an ice cream cone.
MUAH-HA! MUAH HAHAHAHA!
The end result to my Ice Cream Cupcake Cones:
Thanks for stopping by & if you try it out send me a pic!
Word to your mother.
